 - Receives Green Ribbon School Designation from North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction

The Dare County Board of Education awarded Dare County Alternative School with a certificate for being recognized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for its implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBiS), a unique approach to school discipline. The purpose of the program is to improve student behavior through preventative measures and reinforcement of desired behaviors. “Dealing with disruptive behavior can be a major interruption of instructional time,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sue F.
