FFES ASEP + Lunch Ladies

Terrific Team for
World School Milk Day

First Flight Elementary School Nutrition Manager Diana Virgil and ASEP (After-School Enrichment Program) Coordinator Kathy Duncan teamed up to celebrate World School Milk Day on September 24. "The children in ASEP talked about how milk helps fuel the body and the different ways we can add milk to our diet other than drinking it," explained Virgil. Children were given milk mustaches, pencils and stickers as they came through the line to receive their afternoon snack during ASEP. To add a little competitive fun, the students were each given a ballot to determine the name of the "milk day cow" that came with the lesson. The top three names will be drawn from each group, put together, and the name of the cow will be drawn from that pool.  The cow will proudly hang in the cafeteria’ with her name banner around her neck!  Here, ASEP students and the FFES lunch ladies (
Barbara Rust
Amber Dodge,
Regina Willis
and Diana Virgil) show their loyalty to milk.  For more information about the Dare County School After-School Enrichment Program, please call 216-8613.
