at the Southeast Association of Resource Development Councils annual meeting
The Southeast Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils held its annual meeting October 1-4, 2013 in Destin, Florida. Jim Winebarger, Vice President of Albemarle RC&D Council (Edenton, NC) received the Council Member of the Year Award in recognition of this leadership on the Renewable Energy Economic Solutions project with ARC&D, through a grant from the NC Rural Center. Winebarger, Director of Facilities for Dare County Schools, was nominated for this award because of his commitment to the importance of developing renewable energy in northeast North Carolina and to the development of tomorrow's renewable energy consumers and leaders by promoting wind and solar energy in grades K-12.

The SERC&D Association represents 9 states and 60 active RC&D Councils in the Southeast region of the US.  In presenting the award, Jeannette Jamieson, president of the SERC&D, said, Our award program was developed to recognize excellence and commitment from individuals, RC&D Councils and their state associations.  Jim Winebarger represents the best in each area of award consideration and we are delighted to recognize  his commitment by naming him the Southeastern States Council Member of the Year."

ARC&D Council members Louise Hanson (Dare) and Marshall Stevenson (Pasquotank), who accepted the award on Winebarger's behalf, presented the award to Winebarger at the recent Albemarle RC&D quarterly meeting in Edenton.
